We woke up in Galway this morning and made our way down to breakfast. It was still a little chilly in the restaurant and I had my hood on over my top knot.
“Do I look like a cone head?” I asked Matt.
“A what?”
“Does my skull look elongated to you?” I repeat.
“I mean, it looks like you know something…. And it’s grown on you. Maybe it’s lopsided because it’s weighing down on you.” He justified.

I have been walking around with this top knot since
Bunratty but what can I say? My hair options have been a little limited with this crazy weather. Same with Matt’s beard. He’s ready to shave it off.

Today we were supposed to go to the Connemara marble factory shop but we found out it’s permanently closed. I imagine COVID probably wasn’t kind to many businesses, but I was really hoping this one would survive. Instead we went to TK MAXX and the nearby shopping center where we bought some clothes and another suitcase. This is the third time I’ve bought another suitcase for my souvenirs while traveling in Europe.

After we were finished shopping, we headed north to Sligo. I had imagined Sligo to be more like Bunratty, but it turned out to be more like a less congested Galway. Our hotel was in the middle of the city but thankfully had a parking garage right underneath it. Our room was the biggest we’ve had as far as square footage goes. And it even had a balcony over looking the river. We saw some kayakers playing in water and what seemed like intentionally capsizing and recovering. It definitely looked like some training exercise but we couldn’t figure out why train in this cold weather?

Today we took things easy and just enjoyed the scenery. For dinner we took a walk into town and had some burritos at Tuco’s Taqueria which seemed to be bustling with locals.

When we got back to our room, the river current was much faster and stronger. It stayed that way all night into the morning.
