This morning, I started out the day at work on less than 5 hours of sleep. After checking in last night, I noticed my boarding pass didn’t say TSA Precheck but Matt’s did. I ended up spending about an hour on the phone with Delta making sure all my flight documents and accounts had my correct information so I can avoid the peasant line at LAX. That was already after some last minute packing adjustments to make my bag less than 50 lbs. My airline allows for 2 checked bags but every Egyptian that returns to the motherland always brings a full suitcase full of just gifts.
After work, things went fairly smooth despite how anxious I had felt most of the day. I talked for about 10 minutes nonstop once we started driving to the airport about all my concerns. All silly things. But entertaining if you’re my husband.
We avoided traffic and got to the garage on time. Parked… shuttle… and finally arrived at Tom Bradley International Terminal.
We had plenty of time to spare so after a breezy TSA line, we walked around looking for lounge access. DENIED. Apparently our platinum cards are not the right kind of platinum. They didn’t even try to sell us a day pass.

Walking to our gate I could tell which passengers were coming with us all the way to Egypt. Their outfits were heavily focused on brand names with less regard for arrangement, and they left behind a trail of fragrance clouds wherever they went. I was grateful it wasn’t the opposite. We lucked out on our first flight and had nobody in our middle seat, which made for some good naps. I love snuggling up with Matt but our arm situation leaves us a bit too snug on airplanes sometimes. This is Matt’s second time crossing the ocean. He’s so cute I just want to pinch his cheeks.
